Current-day home building and architecture can provide comfort and functionality, but rarely does it provide the warmth and feeling that reflect the homeowner’s taste. Such was the case in Mediterra community in Naples, Florida, where the homeowner wanted a “villa” look for their new 5,000 square-foot home. This is where Shiree Ingram was brought in along with interior designer, Dianne Davant of Dianne Davant & Associates, Banner Elk, North Carolina and Stuart, Florida. (Shiree was introduced to Dianne by long-time friend and interior designer Sarah Hall while living in Montana.) The Mediterra home had many exterior concrete columns that were too stark—the homeowner wanted them to look and feel like they have been there for hundreds of years. Over a SetCoat® base, Shiree applied layers of PlasterTex® and then aged them more with glazes made with FauxCreme® Clear and Earth Brown and Yellow Ochre FauxCreme Color™. A final coat of AquaThane™ Dull was applied for protection. The result reflects columns that resemble those from the Roman Empire. “Adding texture and color, we were able to achieve this finish,” says Shiree. “It was just one of the unique finishes created for the villa [during the year-long project].”
Another truly enjoyable project for Shiree was in the home of Colleen Bain of Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida. Transforming an ordinary wood floor into a focal point is one of Shiree’s talents and fit well into the homeowner’s style.
“Floor stencils have been a very important addition to many of Colleen’s homes, and designing the perfect stencil was very important,” explains Shiree. “Referencing past issues of Faux Effects World® and collaborating with Dianne and Colleen made these floor stencils compliment Dianne’s interior design.” This beautiful finish was created with Charred Gold Designer Metallics™, varying the amount of Silver Concentrate added to create three custom colors. When dry, C-500™ was applied to produce a durable floor finish.
Shiree Ingram of Dry Creek Finishing, Inc. in Naples, Florida started her career by working at her parents’ drywall business during the 1990s in the Bozeman, Montana area. Under her father’s tutelage, she became well-skilled at a wide variety of beautiful hand textures. Wanting to expand and start her own company, she attended her first Faux Effects® workshop in 2003. “I appreciate their professional products that allow us to provide unique finishes for our designers and clients,” says Shiree. In 2005 she married Keith Ingram, who has 20 years of professional painting and home remodeling experience. “We work together as a great team, both in product application and knowledge, but most of all, we really value our relationships with our designers and clients. Working hard to create specific finishes tailored to their needs, we want each client to love it!"
