“I may not be able to see words on paper…but I can see color no matter what!” exclaims Bridgit Taylor of B Taylored Designs. “ I think about how beautiful color truly is and how color can alter moods and feelings. I try to translate these feelings into my art.”

Vibrant colors and texture are frequently found in Bridgit’s work, but her portfolio also includes a variety of contemporary finishes as well, including this sleek silver kitchen project. Matte Metallic True Silver SetCoat® was applied to the cabinetry, and then Bridgit used Black FauxCrème Color™ to add subtle dimension to the silver. An otherwise ordinary column was given a modern twist by creating the look of bamboo using various hues of FauxCrème Color™. The natural, earthy elements of the décor and the soft, neutral wall treatment are the perfect background for the centerpiece column.

While in her studio during the early morning hours, Bridgit often finds herself in a state of deep thought and reflection. It is at this time her mind runs wild, and inspiration for her canvas work is born. LusterStone® is one of her favorite products to use when creating abstract pieces. “Because of LusterStone’s® endless color palette and built-in texture, it’s easy for me to just keep flowing!” Bridgit uses a variety of tools and techniques when incorporating texture into her art. “I believe that using LusterStone® really makes my art stand out.”

When Bridgit’s client told her that she wanted to “bump up” her red and white ceiling, Bridgit knew just what to do. First, she applied SetCoat® Clear over the existing red paint. Next, she applied Designer Foil Size™ followed by beautifully reflective Chili Red Designer Foil FX™. To complete the dramatic effect, Black SetCoat® was applied to the trim and beams.

When artists collaborate, wonderful things happen. Bridgit had purchased two unfinished dressers. Metallic Gold SetCoat® was applied to the sides and top of the first dresser, and Flash Pearl and Metallic Silver SetCoat® were swept gently over the drawer faces using a brush. The drawer pulls were treated with Metallic Bronze Faux Creme Color™ and gold leaf accents. The second dresser began with Black SetCoat®. She then rolled on a thin coat of Garnet MetalGlow®. To soften the red on the sides and top, Bridget finished with a thin coat of Metallic Pink SetCoat® diluted with water. When Bridgit was introduced to a fellow artist Daren Jeter, she asked him if he would hand paint images on the two dressers that she had faux finished. She then added that he could only use Faux Effects® SuperCreme Artist Colors™ and SetCoat®. He happily agreed and proceeded to create two beautiful female figures, one on the front of each dresser. They donated one of the dressers to Diamonds in the Rough, a non-profit organization that helps young girls succeed. It was placed into a silent auction as part of a fundraising event, and needless to say, it sold immediately!
