Faux Design Studio’s Annual Spring Fling
This annual free event was held on March 8, 2014 to standing room only! Sheri Zeman broke out the latest design trends, Loft 101 stencils and the new Faux Effects® product, NuVilla™. Hands on demonstrations had the intense attention of all to see what new workshops were being unveiled for 2014.
As always, fun networking, great food and many giveaways including the Luck of the Irish “Pot of Gold” sponsored by Faux Effects International, Inc. was a huge hit! The lucky winner went home with various Faux Effects® products all featured in “gold.”

Gary Lord Wall Options and Associates Inc. Win 1st Place Nationally for Paint It Professionally & American Painting Contractors 2013 Top Job Award
Gary Lord Wall Options and Associates received two more awards for their work! The Painting & Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) decorated them with National First Place for Paint It Professionally (their ninth award!). Gary and his team accepted the PDCA award in memory their co-worker, Joe Taylor, who worked extensively on the project.
The second honor comes from the American Painting Contractors (APC), the 2013 Top Job Award. Gary and his team were named the Midwest winner of the residential category noting their superior work on a coatings job and for their commitment to excellence in the painting industry. This award goes to one company per region covering four categories— residential, decorative, commercial and paperhanging—based on craftsmanship, technique and creativity as well as the contractor's ability to overcome challenges, communicate with clients and deliver an excellent finished product.
Upon learning that his company won the Top Job Award, Gary said, "My staff and I realize how blessed we are to be able to make a living by using our artistic talents to help transform environments for our clients. We are asked to be in someone's home or office, which is often their most private space. It is in this space that we are then asked to help enhance the area in a variety of ways; to make it feel warm, cozy, whimsical, larger, more elegant, comfortable, intimate, or romantic, just to name a few. What a wonderful way to be able to share our artistic talents and make people feel good at the same time. Often times we will hear from clients after we have completed the project that the area we helped transform is now their favorite place to be in their home. Thank you to all of our clients that allow us to do what we love to do."
The award-winning finish is on a ceiling 18 feet above the great room. A gold base paint was applied after which sizing was used and a special crackle gold foil was transferred onto the surface. A detailed all-over-damask stencil was applied only in the highest part of the tray ceiling. The kitchen, breakfast room and family room areas received the same finish to unify the continuous living space. A black base coat followed by a coat of sizing and three foil colors started the finish. Then AquaStone® was applied with a sponge roller. Finally, a glaze mixture of FauxCreme® Clear and FauxCreme Color™ was applied with a nylon pouncing brush.
