Room for Inspiration

It is easy to makeover an entire room when you can choose from so many incredible finishing products. In this case, all I needed was one really great product—Old World Finishing Paint™! Each makeover in this guest bath used this new, fantastic product. Why do I like it? The coverage and bond is amazing, it’s very easy to tint and it can be stacked and sanded back for pretty reveals.

The wall finish consists of custom tinted Old World Finishing Paint™ in a coffee and a cream color over Metallic Gold Palette Deco™. The pattern is Antoinette Damask from Royal Design Studios.

The plastic (yes it is plastic!) faux-wood door is painted with Royal Taupe SetCoat®, detailed with Rich Gold and Silver SuperHide Metallic™ followed by a wash of cream-colored Old World Finishing Paint™. Sealing it with C500™ gloss gives it a contemporary spin.

The cultured marble sink was prepped with Stone Décor™ and then covered with SandStone™. Untinted Old World Finishing Paint™ was then troweled over the surface, using a rubber, triangular trowel for the curved sink. Then, this wet use area was sealed with water-based Rock-Kote™ in dull for maximum protection.

The old oak vanity gets a facelift with Dark Brown SetCoat™ mixed with DuraSeal Sanding Sealer™ pounced on the cabinet. The cream colored Old World Finishing Paint™ was used again by brushing it on and sanding it back once dry.

After sealing the surface with AquaGard™ Gloss, I tipped the cabinet with FauxCreme Color Concentrate™ mixed into FXThinner™. Then, I tipped it with Silver SuperHide Metallic™ (also used on the handles) and glazed with American Walnut Stain & Seal™ mixed into FXThinner™.The cabinet also was sealed with water-based Rock-Kote™ in dull.

Did you think I couldn't find one more thing for Old World Finishing Paint™ in a single room? Think again. I applied stock molding around a large wall mirror and painted it with Royal Taupe SetCoat®. Over this, I brushed on SandStone™ thinned out with a little bit of water. When dry, I brushed the tips with Silver SuperHide Metallic™. Once again, the cream colored Old World Finishing Paint™ was applied and then sanded back when dry to reveal more Silver SuperHide Metallic™ and more SandStone™. It is sealed with C500™ gloss, which absorbed into the finish and dried to a satin sheen.
